Navi Mumbai: Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has issued a warning to farmers, urging them not to fall for fraudulent calls or messages related to the popular "Solar Agricultural Pump for All Who Apply" scheme.

According to MSEDCL, some farmers have reported receiving fake calls offering to bypass the official waiting list and provide early installation of solar pumps in exchange for money.

The company clarified that the scheme’s entire process is transparent and conducted online. Solar pumps are being installed strictly in the order of registration, and no changes are made to the waiting list under any circumstances.

“Farmers should not pay anyone promising early pump installation or special treatment. Once the beneficiary pays their share and selects an agency, their name is included in the official waiting list,” MSEDCL stated.

To report any suspicious calls, MSEDCL has advised farmers to contact their toll-free helplines – 1800 233 3435 or 1800 212 3435 – or to approach the nearest MSEDCL office for assistance.

Under the scheme, farmers need to pay only 10% of the total cost to receive a complete solar pump and panel setup. The central government provides a 30% subsidy, while the Maharashtra government covers the remaining 60%.

For Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe farmers, the beneficiary contribution is just 5%. As solar panels generate electricity for up to 25 years, the pump operates without power bills, providing a long-term benefit with daytime power availability.

The scheme has become widely popular across the state, and Maharashtra currently leads the nation in the number of installed solar pumps. MSEDCL confirmed it is working to meet the high demand efficiently and in a timely manner.

In addition, MSEDCL addressed complaints about certain installation agencies demanding transportation charges or materials from farmers. The company reiterated that all installation responsibilities lie with the selected agency, and no additional materials or payments should be requested from beneficiaries. Any such incidents should be promptly reported to MSEDCL.
