Social activist Anjali Damania on Thursday demanded Dhananjay Munde’s resignation, stating that the Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court’s observations could not be ignored.
“If a minister is asked to pay in a domestic violence case, the Chief Minister [Devendra Fadnavis] should understand the gravity of the situation and ask for Munde’s resignation immediately,” Damania stated, indicating that she would meet Fadnavis and his deputy Ajit Pawar to push for action.
Damania also took to Twitter to congratulate Karuna Sharma. “Karuna, as Dhananjay Munde’s first wife, faced physical abuse, and the court has instructed him to provide maintenance and ensure no harm comes to her,” she said.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray called the courts ruling “shocking” and questioned why the chief minister had not taken any action. “It is alarming that a minister has been reprimanded by the court in such a way. Why has the chief minister not addressed this issue?” Thackeray asked.
