Mumbai: In a swift and strategic operation, officials from the Pant Nagar Police Station, Ghatkopar, arrested a man accused of murdering his wife in Ahmedabad on Thursday. The accused, who had been on the run, was tracked down and apprehended from Ramabai Ambedkarnagar in Ghatkopar, Mumbai.

The case dates back to a murder registered at Narol Police Station in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, where a man allegedly killed his wife and fled the city. After an initial investigation, Ahmedabad police traced his possible movements to Mumbai, prompting coordination with their counterparts in the city.

In an X (formerly Twitter) post shared by the Mumbai Police, officials confirmed the arrest of a murder accused who had fled from Ahmedabad after allegedly killing his wife. The accused was apprehended by the Pant Nagar Police Station team from Ramabai Nagar, Ghatkopar. The post included a photo of the arrested individual.

Upon receiving the alert, the Detection Team of Pant Nagar Police Station launched a rapid search operation. Based on technical intelligence and local inputs, the team zeroed in on the accused’s hideout in the densely populated area of Ramabai Nagar, a known urban settlement in eastern Mumbai.

The accused was located and arrested within a matter of hours. Sources said that the man had been staying under the radar and had attempted to avoid detection by frequently changing locations. The arrested accused has since been handed over to the Narol Police from Ahmedabad for further legal proceedings and investigation.

This incident highlights the efficiency and inter-city collaboration between law enforcement agencies, showcasing how timely information-sharing and swift action can bring fugitives to justice. Police are continuing the investigation to uncover the full circumstances of the crime and whether others were involved in aiding his escape.
