Mumbai: Nineteen years ago, on July 11, 2006, Mumbai's suburban trains were rocked by a series of coordinated bomb blasts, resulting in one of the city's deadliest terror attacks. The explosions, which occurred at various train stations, claimed 209 lives and injured over 800 people.
Among the survivors was Chirag Chauhan, a young Chartered Accountant aspirant who suffered a debilitating spinal cord injury that left him wheelchair-bound. Despite the life-altering consequences of the blast, Chirag refused to let his disability define him. Instead, he channeled his energy into rebuilding his life and pursuing his passion for accounting. He completed his LLB in 2024, showcasing his dedication to lifelong learning.
As one of India's top 40 ICAI Finfluencers, Chirag inspires future CAs and enhances the online presence of practicing accountants. He has achieved 38 million views on X/Twitter and launched a YouTube channel focused on tax, GST, and finance, positioning him as a motivational figure for many.
In a recent development, the Bombay High Court acquitted all 12 individuals previously convicted in connection with the 2006 Mumbai train bombings, citing lack of conclusive evidence. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has stated that Bombay High Court's verdict will be challenged in the Supreme Court.
