As Maharashtra reports a rise in COVID-19 cases again, especially in cities like Mumbai, health officials are urging people to take extra care. The surge is linked to newer variants such as LF-7 and NB 1.5, which are spreading fast. Although most infections are mild, with symptoms like cough, cold, and low fever, the changing weather can weaken immunity, making us more vulnerable. Here's how you can protect yourself:

Wear your mask in crowds

Even though masks aren't always mandatory now, it's a good idea to wear one in busy markets, public transport, or indoor gatherings. Masks help reduce the risk of inhaling virus particles in the air, especially in closed or crowded spaces.

Keep your hands clean

Washing hands regularly with soap and water is still one of the best ways to stop the virus from spreading. When you're outside and can't find a wash basin, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Avoid touching your face, especially your eyes, nose, and mouth, with unwashed hands.

Eat well to strengthen immunity

A healthy immune system is your body’s best defense. Eat a variety of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Stay hydrated and get enough sleep. Light exercise, like walking or yoga, also helps build resistance against infections.

Let fresh air in

When indoors, try to keep windows and doors open to allow fresh air to circulate. Good ventilation can help remove virus particles from the air, reducing the chance of infection in closed environments.

Stay alert and updated

Follow official health advisories and check local news for COVID-related updates. If you're feeling unwell, avoid stepping out and consult a doctor if needed. Being informed helps you take timely precautions.

In times of rising infections and changing weather, a few mindful habits can make a big difference. Stay cautious, protect your loved ones, and take care of your health.
