Renowned fashion designer Manish Malhotra captivated audiences on Monday night as he showcased his latest collection at the Hindustan Times India’s Most Stylish event. The star-studded runway saw iconic actress Mumtaz making a dazzling debut as a showstopper, alongside Bollywood divas Shilpa Shetty, Urmila Matondkar, and rising star Khushi Kapoor.

Mumtaz's spectacular runway debut

The legendary Mumtaz, at 77, graced the runway in a mesmerising black chiffon saree adorned with intricate multicolored floral embroidery, shimmering sequin embellishments, and delicate tassels along the pallu border. Designed by Manish Malhotra, the saree was paired with a full-sleeved black blouse featuring a deep V-neckline, tassel detailing, and a cropped hem decked with black beads.

Mumtaz complemented her ensemble with a statement necklace, embellished heels, and dainty rings and earrings. Her hair was styled in soft blowout waves with a side parting, and her makeup featured a radiant dewy finish with a hint of blush-pink glam. Her presence on the runway was met with admiration, as she exuded grace and sophistication.

Shilpa Shetty stuns in white elegance

Adding to the evening’s glamour, Shilpa Shetty dazzled in a breathtaking white saree, delicately embroidered with floral patterns. She paired the classic drape with a halter-neck blouse embellished with pearls, giving her ensemble an ethereal charm. To complete her look, Shilpa opted for diamond earrings, gold bracelets, and rings. Her makeup featured shimmery eyeshadow, glossy caramel lips, flushed cheeks, and feathered brows, while her hair, styled in a side parting, cascaded effortlessly down her shoulders.

Urmila Matondkar’s bold fashion statement

Known for her experimental style, Urmila Matondkar turned heads in a silk-satin corset saree, layered with a sophisticated full-length trench coat. The coat’s cuffs were adorned with red gemstones, adding a touch of regal glamour. Her look was accessorised with elegant matching earrings and rings, while her hair was left open in effortless waves. Urmila chose a minimal makeup look, letting her ensemble take center stage.

Khushi Kapoor brings a modern twist to the saree

Representing the younger generation, Khushi Kapoor infused Gen-Z aesthetics into traditional Indian wear with her striking pre-draped saree. The ensemble featured a daring thigh-high slit and vibrant embellishments, blending contemporary elements with classic silhouettes. Her modern take on ethnic wear showcased how sarees can be reimagined for today’s fashion-forward youth.

Manish Malhotra’s collection at the Hindustan Times India’s Most Stylish event was a true testament to his ability to blend tradition with modernity. From classic silhouettes to bold reinterpretations, the show celebrated diverse styles while highlighting the timeless beauty of the saree. With a mix of legendary and contemporary fashion icons gracing the runway, the event was a spectacular fusion of elegance, nostalgia, and cutting-edge couture.
