Dussehra is one of the most-awaited Hindu festivals. After the nine-day-long celebrations towards Hindu goddess Maa Durga, it's time for Vijaya Dashami, or what is popularly known as Dussehra. This year the festival falls on October 5.
The day signifies the victory of good over evil. Maa Durga's victory over demon Mahishasura and Lord Ram killing asura-king Ravan for abducting his wife Sita, took place on the Dussehra thithi.
