After making headlines with his first red carpet outing in Manish Malhotra couture, Karan Johar returned to the prestigious 78th Cannes Film Festival in a look that paid tribute to legacy, craftsmanship, and the late Indian designer Rohit Bal. Walking the red carpet for the screening of 'Homebound', Karan made his second appearance in hand-embroidered attire that has everyone talking.

Take a look:

A Rosy Tribute to Rohit Bal

For the festival gala, Karan turned heads in a regal all-black ensemble from the shelves of Rohit Bal's couture collection. The real star of his attire was a hand-embroidered velvet jacket that reportedly took 410 hours to create. The jacket, made from rich silk velvet, was adorned with intricate zardozi embroidery, featuring delicate floral and rose motifs that have long been a signature of Bal's style.

Letting the exquisite jacket do the talking, the filmmaker styled it with a crisp black shirt and tailored trousers. Further, Karan accessorised with standout pieces from Tyaani Jewellery, including a ruby-studded choker and a bold, ornate ring.

And, of course, no Karan Johar appearance is complete without his signature black sunglasses and polished styling. With neatly combed hair and chic black formal shoes, he wrapped the look with his unmistakable charm.

Karan Johar's first Cannes look

Karan’s debut look at Cannes was classic KJo style. He teamed up with renowned Indian designer Manish Malhotra to deliver a statement-making ensemble. He wore a custom ivory bandhgala featuring a textured jacquard collar layered over a dramatic ruffled shirt.

What truly elevated the look, however, were the accessories. Karan adorned himself with an exquisite array of brooches and collar pins crafted in 18k gold and set with over 14 carats of custom-cut emeralds.

He completed the ensemble with tinted glasses, a luxury timepiece, a few standout rings, and his signature slicked-back hair, sealing his place as one of Cannes 2025's best-dressed men.
