The glamour quotient in Mumbai hit an all-time high this week, and it wasn’t just another awards night. From May 1 to May 4, 2025, the Jio World Convention Centre is playing host to the WAVES Summit-short for the World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit. Designed to push India’s media and entertainment industry into a new era, the international gathering drew in top names from cinema, production, and global media.
But even as the conversations revolved around tech, storytelling, and global partnerships, Bollywood brought its signature touch-saree-clad stardom and unapologetic elegance.
Effortless grace in chiffon
Veteran actress Kareena Kapoor made a quiet but commanding statement in a Printed French Chiffon Saree by Atelier Shikaar bagh. The soft fabric floated around her as she styled it minimally-diamond studs and a single statement ring sealing the deal. Her entire look whispered "old-money elegance" without shouting for attention.
Regal in olive tissue
Sobhita Dhulipala turned heads in a jaw-dropping olive tissue saree by Manish Malhotra, which, for the record, comes with a ₹3.9 lakh price tag. Intricately hand-embroidered and gleaming subtly under the lights, the ensemble embodied the summit’s blend of luxury and culture.
Manushi Chhillar dons pink saree
Former Miss World Manushi Chhillar brought a fresh splash of color to the event in the ‘Femme Fatale’ Saree by Ekaya Banaras. The bold pink hue and delicate weave radiated youthful charm, proving once again that traditional wear doesn’t have to play it safe.
Guneet Monga drapes a fusion
Acclaimed producer Guneet Monga was all about breaking the mold. Her saree-a vivid red and yellow drape by Medha-was styled with chunky, eclectic jewelry that gave the look an indo-western twist. It was playful, vibrant, and a true representation of the new-age Indian woman.
Alia Bhatt turns Marathi mulgi
Fittingly, on Maharashtra Day (May 1), Alia Bhatt paid homage to Indian heritage in a Handwoven Paithani Saree by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. With its vibrant colors and understated design, the saree was a graceful nod to Maharashtra’s rich handloom legacy.
