Mumbai's art scene is buzzing this August, as the FPH Gallery at Free Press House brings a striking new exhibition featuring the works of three compelling artists: Deepa Gaur, Uma Joshi, and Manosh. Running from August 1st to 15th, 2025, this 15-day showcase is more than just an exhibition; it's a dialogue between canvas, camera, and creativity.

The gallery space transforms into a visual symphony, with each wall reflecting the unique voice and vision of the artists. The exhibition celebrates contrast, featuring vibrant brushstrokes, minimalist ink lines, and the raw stillness of monochrome photographs. It showcases how these three different media can together convey a unified story of emotion, memory, and the human experience.

Deepa Gaur

Leading the show is Deepa Gaur, a seasoned painter whose vibrant, expressive style has earned her recognition across Indian galleries. Her studio in Hiranandani, Powai, is a hub of innovation and imagination. “My inspiration comes from moments of quiet observation, sunlight through leaves, a weathered rock, or the silence of vast landscapes,” Gaur shares.

With deep influence from abstract expressionism, she adds, “Art should speak to the heart, not just the mind.” Her section of the exhibit invites visitors into her emotional world with vivid, bold, and deeply personal art. Check out Gaur's art, such as "Buddha Path to Nirvana”, "Abundance”, and more.

Uma Joshi

Uma Joshi, whose work explores pen art, watercolour, and semi-abstract painting, brings a different rhythm. “Nature was my first muse,” she recalls. “To imitate even a fraction of its beauty on canvas gave me joy and purpose.”

Her pieces, often rooted in memory and nature, are meditative, transforming still trees and skies into art. Her evolving style is evident in her growing presence in Mumbai’s art circles, with this exhibit marking another significant chapter in her artistic journey. You can explore Joshi's collection, including "Shivaji the Lion", "Musician" and others.

Manosh

Manosh, a street photographer with a sharp eye for real-life drama, provides a powerful visual counterpoint to the colourful canvases. His black-and-white frames capture the poetry in everyday chaos, candid expressions, forgotten corners, and fleeting moments.

“I focus on live-action street life. My photos tell real stories, emotions meeting architecture, spontaneity meeting stillness,” he explains. For Manosh, photography isn’t just visual; it’s visceral. His work invites not just viewing, but feeling. For the photography lover, look at "Liberation", "Solitude", "Monsoon" and others.
