When billionaires tie the knot, it's never just about the vows; it's about yachts, couture, and, in Jeff Bezos' case, "possibly" handing over a media empire as a wedding present.

After tying the knot with TV anchor-turned-philanthropist Lauren Sanchez in a lavish Venetian affair in June filled with A-listers and glamour, Bezos is once again making headlines. This time, it's for what might be one of the most extravagant wedding gifts ever: Vogue magazine or rather, its parent company, Condé Nast.

Is Bezos buying Condé Nast for Lauren?

According to industry chatter, Bezos is reportedly eyeing the entire Condé Nast portfolio as a gift to his new wife. That means Vogue, GQ, Vanity Fair, The New Yorker, and more – a publishing kingdom that has shaped pop culture for decades. And while sources close to Bezos have denied the rumours, insiders at Vogue and across the fashion world seem convinced something’s in motion.

A source told The Daily Mail, "The rumour that Jeff is going to buy Condé Nast is all anyone’s talking about in the fashion industry and inside Vogue."

The timing has certainly raised eyebrows. Sanchez, a former broadcast journalist, just graced Vogue’s July 2025 digital cover, draped in a custom Dolce & Gabbana gown hand-picked by none other than Anna Wintour herself. For many, this cover was no coincidence.

“Lauren Sanchez is such an unlikely cover star,” the source continued, “and the word is that she landed the July issue partly because the Newhouse family want to butter up Bezos.”

What's Anna Wintour’s role in all this?

The speculation doesn't stop at Bezos and Sanchez. Industry veteran Anna Wintour, who recently stepped down as Vogue’s Editor-in-Chief after an iconic 37-year tenure, is said to be a key player in the rumoured deal.

“Anna is said to be the one brokering the deal so that's why Lauren was put on the cover,” said the insider to the outlet. “Anna has equity in the business so has a lot to gain from a sale.”

Though Wintour is still at the helm of Condé Nast’s global operations, her move to quit her long-held editor title has sparked fresh rumours about a transition.

“Anna was the anomaly, she was the only Editor-in-Chief left,” the source explained. “GQ has a Global Editorial Director, Glamour has one, Vanity Fair too. So, she had to give up the title. I don’t think she was thrilled but she accepted it, probably because she knows the company is getting ready to sell.”

So, is it true?

As of now, it’s all speculation. Bezos hasn't confirmed anything. The Newhouse family is publicly denying it. And yet, the signs, from Sanchez's unexpected Vogue cover to Anna Wintour’s strategic exit, all point to something big brewing behind closed doors.

And let’s not forget: Bezos already owns a reputed newsroom. He acquired The Washington Post in 2013, ending the Graham family’s 80-year reign. So while buying Condé Nast may sound wild to some, for Bezos, it’s not that far-fetched.
