This year’s Met Gala was nothing short of a visual symphony, reimagining the iconic steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art into a poetic display of Black heritage, contemporary elegance, and global influence. Under the resonant theme 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,' the 2025 edition seamlessly blended fashion, identity, and artistry into a transformative cultural celebration.

From the moment the first guests arrived, the setting itself captivated attendees and viewers alike. A staggering 63,000 square feet of deep blue carpet blanketed the entrance, made radiant with golden daffodils scattered throughout the scene. Floral barricades cascaded like waterfalls, while reflective water elements and suspended blooms created a surreal atmosphere of opulence and serenity. The museum’s facade transformed into a dreamy blue-and-gold sanctuary-an immersive experience more akin to walking through a living art installation than a red carpet.

Sustainability in style

In keeping with the Met Gala’s growing emphasis on environmental responsibility, the eco-friendly carpet was once again provided by Neytt by Extraweave, a Kerala-based brand with a global reputation for sustainable luxury. This marked their third consecutive year as collaborators for the Met. Woven from biodegradable sisal fibers sourced from Madagascar, the carpet stood as a testament to environmentally conscious design meeting high fashion.

A star-studded opening act

Setting the tone for the evening, a vibrant dance performance to “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” echoed through the museum steps, igniting the event with energy and cultural pride. Co-chairs Lewis Hamilton and Colman Domingo were among the first to arrive, setting a stylish standard and ushering in a parade of looks that interpreted the theme with creativity and depth.

India’s moment in the global spotlight

Indian talent had a major presence this year, marking a milestone in the country’s growing influence in global fashion. Legendary designer Manish Malhotra made his much-anticipated Met Gala debut, accompanied by Bollywood megastars Shah Rukh Khan and Kiara Advani.

Punjabi powerhouse Diljit Dosanjh also made his first appearance, bringing his signature blend of tradition and edge. Meanwhile, style mainstays like Priyanka Chopra and Natasha Poonawalla returned to the Met steps with their usual flair.

In a special moment of collaboration, famed designer Sabyasachi walked the blue carpet as well, having styled Shah Rukh Khan for the occasion-underscoring the deepening ties between Indian fashion and international style narratives.
