What does the name 'Mira' mean?

"Mira" is a simple yet rich name that carries multiple meanings across cultures, each with their own significance:

In Sanskrit, "Mira" means "ocean", "limit", or "boundary", evoking depth, strength, and vastness.

In Latin and Romance languages, it stems from the word "mirus", meaning "wonder" or "wonderful".

In Slavic languages, "Mira" translates to "peace", often used in longer names like "Miroslava" or "Mirjana".

In Albanian, it denotes "goodness" or "kindness".

The name also shares historical ties with Meera Bai, the 16th-century Hindu mystic poet and princess known for her devotion to Lord Krishna.

Given the name's cross-cultural richness and deep meaning, it’s no wonder that Aamir, someone known for thoughtful storytelling, chose it.
