Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Food and drug administration department has suspended the licence of Tirupati Bakers and Confectioners, located in Badiyakima village on Nemawar Road, and halted its operations for preparing food products in unhygienic conditions and using expired food products.
During an inspection on Wednesday, food safety officer Manish Swami and his team found improper storage of raw materials and finished products at the establishment.
The required food licence was not displayed, no technical staff was present, and hygiene protocols were ignored. The use of expired ingredients in food production was also discovered. The bakery was manufacturing wafers without obtaining the mandatory food licence.
“Samples of four types of wafers were collected for testing and further action to follow based on the results. This was not the first incident of violation as labelling regulations were also violated about two months ago,” Swami said. The premises' first floor, housing Tirupati Confectioners, was also previously inspected in November.
A sample of maida (refined flour) was declared unsafe by the State Food Testing Laboratory in Bhopal. The matter is under investigation, with the business owner appealing the findings and a re-test underway. In light of repeated non-compliance, the administration has suspended Tirupati Bakers' licence and ceased its operations indefinitely.
