Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Four members of a gang of thieves that targeted locked houses were arrested with stolen goods worth Rs 75 lakh by Rajendra Nagar police on Friday. A stolen bike and a car used in the crime were also seized from them. They used to recce the locked house before committing theft there.
DCP (zone-1) Vinod Kumar Meena informed media persons that a team led by Rajendra Nagar police station in charge Neeraj Birthare was constituted to arrest the theft accused following some theft incidents in the area. The team was investigating and searching for the accused when information was received that some people were roaming in an SUV in the Kundan Nagar area. The police team reached the mentioned place when the accused tried to flee seeing the police.
Police had to chase them for about 5 kilometres to arrest them. Four men sitting in the SUV were caught and some stolen valuables were recovered from them.
The accused have been identified as Ishak Khan, a resident of Tarana in Ujjain, Shailendra Solanki of Lasudia area, Vikas alias Bunty Meena, a resident of Dewas and Sanjay alias Hydra Malviya of Sonkutch in Dewas district. Following the lead given by the accused, the police have recovered about 200 grams of gold ornaments, silver ornaments weighing about 5 kilograms, antique coins, a stolen bike, Rs 3.13 lakh in cash, a car used in the crime and other things were recovered from them. Police claimed that the seized goods, cash and valuables worth Rs 75 lakh were recovered from the accused.
Modus operandi
The accused allegedly informed the police that they were involved in four theft incidents. They used to make a plan and did a recce of the residential colony. Thereafter they identified and chose a locked/closed houses to commit theft during the night.
After finalising the house as the target, they choose the method of entering according to the structure of that house like entering by climbing the roof through the outer pipe, entering by cutting the ventilation grill, entering by breaking the lock of the main gate etc.
They decided the time of theft according to the area and after carrying out the incident in a planned manner, they used to run away after stealing gold and silver jewellery and cash. They did not take their mobile phones with them at the time of committing theft and after selling the stolen goods, they used to run away to other states.
