Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): In his first visit since becoming the state BJP chief, Hemant Khandelwal was felicitated at a programme organised by the party’s local unit at the Kalidas Sanskrit Academy premises on Thursday. Elected unopposed, yet Khandelwal was given a lukewarm welcome by the concerned managers, and even the party workers’ presence was thin. The party was sharing the venue, which was already booked for the Gundecha Temple of ISKCON by the Maharaja Vikramaditya Shodhpeeth.

Addressing the programme, Khandelwal said the workers should make the BJP stronger for the integrity of the country and a better future. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is developing a new tradition of industry and employment and taking Madhya Pradesh to new heights. “The BJP, which started as Jan Sangh, has today become the world’s largest and most powerful organisation. When I became the party president, the first thing on my mind was to start my work after bowing at the feet of Baba Mahakal and if I do not come among His devotees, this journey would remain incomplete.”

He said under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP is serving the people through power. “The PM has given a new direction to the development of the country,” he said.

BJP state organising general secretary Hitanand Sharma said that the party was serving the people in most parts of the country due to the tireless hard work and efforts of the workers.

He said that in Madhya Pradesh, the BJP won all the elections, from panch, sarpanch, and municipal body to assembly, with a historic majority. In the Lok Sabha also, the party created history by winning all the Lok Sabha seats in the state.

“Now, every worker should have the BJP in every house,” he said. District minister in-charge Gautam Tetwal, MP Anil Firojiya, Rajya Sabha member Balyogi Umeshnath, divisional in-charge Jeetu Jirati, state vice-president Bahadur Singh Chauhan, co-treasurer and MLA Anil Jain Kaluheda, former minister Paras Jain, city president Sanjay Agrawal, rural unit president Rajesh Dhakad, and MLA Tejbahadur Singh Chauhan also spoke at the event.

Khandelwal at Mahakal’s Darbar

State BJP president Hemant Khandelwal reached here in the afternoon by road from Bhopal and prayed to Baba Mahakal.

He said to mediapersons, “I have been entrusted with this responsibility with the immense love, trust and support of the leadership and workers of the BJP, for which I express my heartfelt gratitude. I have started by praying to Baba Mahakal.” Khandelwal also garlanded the statue of Pt Deendayal Upadhyay at Nanakheda Square.
