Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The registration of 10 vehicles that were modified and being used for commercial activities in the city was suspended on Tuesday.

During a meeting on traffic improvement, collector Asheesh Singh had instructed the officials to ensure strict action against modified vehicles used for business while parked illegally in the city.

According to Regional Transport Officer Pradeep Sharma, in recent days, a joint team from the municipal corporation, revenue department and RTO identified 17 such vehicles engaged in selling juice, ice cream, water, pav bhaji etc without permission. Such activities are deemed a violation of the Motor Vehicles Act, as operating shops from these vehicles disrupts traffic management.

Information about these 17 vehicles identified by the municipal corporation was forwarded to the Regional Transport Office. Among these, 10 vehicles were found to be registered in Indore.

The registrations of all these vehicles was suspended. The remaining 7 vehicles are registered in other districts and letters have been sent to the respective offices for further action.

Authorities have warned that if the vehicle owners fail to present the required documents or undergo physical verification as per the rules, their registrations will be cancelled under Section 55 (5) of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.

The administration has appealed to people for cooperation, emphasizing that such encroachment on main roads obstructs traffic and increases the risk of accidents, so it should be avoided.
