Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Indore District Administration directed all the petrol pumps in Madhya Pradesh's Indore to not provide petrol to two-wheeler riders who are not wearing helmets. This order will come into effect from August 1 and will remain effective till September 29.
This new rule, titled “No Helmet, No Petrol” comes after the directive of Chairman of Supreme Court's Road Safety Committee and former judge, Abhay Manohar Sapre's. He aims to spread awareness about wearing helmets and seat belts to reduce road accidents.
Along with this, instructions were given to take action against those who do not follow traffic rules.
Indore District Administration aims to reduce death rates in road accidents. Wearing helmets significantly reduces the risk of serious injuries or fatalities in road accidents.
Collector Ashish Singh said, "Not wearing helmet, over speeding and drink and drive are the major concerns for road safety. Wearing a helmet can reduce the risk of fatality. This rule will be strictly followed for the safety of drivers in Indore."

Along with this, wearing a seat belt has also been made mandatory for car drivers. Collector Ashish Singh said that this is very important for road safety. The administration will also spread awareness about wearing helmets in the city.
The police will also assist in the implementation of the new rule and may impose penalties on violators. People have also been advised to follow traffic rules at major intersections of the city.
