Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): BJYM vice president Monu Kalyane was shot dead by two youths near Chimanbagh on Jail Road in the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. He was putting up the posters of his Bhagwa Vahan Rally which was to start on Sunday afternoon, when two youths of his locality reached there on a bike and they showed there interest to join the rally. When Monu was checking his mobile phone, one of the accused opened fire one by one on him and they fled the scene. Enraged supporters reached at one of the accused place and set it ablaze.
DCP (zone-3) Pankaj Pandey informed Free Press that the incident took around 2 am. 35-year-old Kalyane along with his supporters was there on the street and was installing the posters of his rally.

He was standing on the divider when two persons named Arjun Pathrod and Piyush Pathrod, the residents of Usha Phatak area reached there on a bike and they talked Kalyane that they wanted to joint his rally. Then, one of the accused gave a missed call to Kalyane to save his number. Kalyane was checking his mobile phone to see missed call when one of them opened fire using a pistol on Kalyane. He received bullets on chest and shoulder due to which he died on the spot.
Supporter Rahul informed the police that he and two other supporters tried to intervene when the accused allegedly opened fire on them but they somehow escaped the bullets. After this incident, they informed other people and the police. He was taken to the hospital but it was too late. DCP said that a police party was patrolling the area and the officials reached the spot within minutes.

House set on fire, vehicle damaged
After the incident, supporters of Kalyane reached Arjun’s place and they damaged the vehicles and set his house on fire. The video in which some youths were seen setting ablaze his house in every room was also circulated on the social media. Police said that the investigation is on and a police team has been constituted for the arrest of the accused. The exact reason for the incident could not be established yet. It was believed that the reason for the same is an old rivalry. The exact situation could be known only after the arrest of the accused. It is said that Kalyane was the supporter of Ex MLA Akash Vijayvargiya and Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya.
