Kasrawad (Madhya Pradesh): Farmers of Kasrawad are facing severe challenges due to the mismanagement of canal water, despite claims by MLA Sachin Yadav of having established a network of canals.
According to information, farmers on Sunday have expressed their frustration as they plead for water, only to find it released without proper checks. Allegations have surfaced that the canals are neither cleaned nor maintained, leading to significant issues for the agricultural community.
Farmer Rajendra Patel claimed that the canal contractor, allegedly close to the MLA, is not held accountable. Water is inconsistently distributed, with some areas receiving excess water while others remain dry. Patel's barn was flooded, forcing him and other farmers to spend the day scooping out water.
The canals are filled with mud and debris, causing blockages that lead to flooding in some fields while leaving others parched. Farmers Ganesh Patidar, Pankaj Srivastava and Krishna Harihar Yadav noted that the canals are well-maintained near the MLA's fields but neglected in areas with BJP-supporting farmers.
The main canal spans 64-kilometer-long, with a distribution branch of 12-kilometer, but has suffered from a lack of maintenance, accumulating nearly one meter of soil.
Farmers, including Lalit Yadav and Sukhdev Yadav, expressed disappointment as they hoped for water from the Omkareshwar canal project, only to face the same issues as in previous years. Despite earlier inspections by state officials, no effective solutions have been implemented.
What MLA Yadav and canal sub-engineer Ahirwar said?
MLA Sachin Yadav stated he has repeatedly contacted officials about the issue, but to no avail. He plans to write to the CM to demand a budget for necessary repairs.
Canal sub-engineer OP Ahirwar acknowledged the lack of maintenance and assured that cleaning would commence soon, although no budget has been allocated for ongoing upkeep.
