Dhar (Madhya Pradesh): A 19-year-old youth was found dead under suspicious circumstances in rented house in Dhar.
The deceased, Rohit Chouhan of Daabad village, had been living with his 20-year-old girlfriend Manisha in Deendayalpuram Colony for the past one-and-a-half years. The young couple, both pursuing medical courses, was in a live-in relationship. Rohit also worked part-time as a welder.
On Monday evening, Manisha reportedly invited two of her friends to home. Later that night, the three of them rushed Rohit to a private hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. The hospital immediately alerted the police, who launched an investigation.
The body was sent for post-mortem, conducted by a team of doctors in the presence of police and recorded on video. When Rohit’s family arrived on Tuesday to collect his body, they were overcome with grief and suspicion.
His brother, Raja Chouhan, alleged foul play, claiming that Rohit had sustained serious head injuries that ‘did not look normal’ and demanded a thorough investigation, suspecting it could be a case of murder.
Police have sealed the couple’s rented room and begun collecting evidence. Kotwali police station in-charge Sameer Patidar visited the scene, while CSP Ravindra Vaskale said that exact cause of death would be known only after the post-mortem report.
He added that all angles, including suicide and homicide, are being actively investigated.
