Badnawar (Madhya Pradesh): Residents of Badnawar were left puzzled by unexpected rainfall during the month of May, particularly coinciding with the onset of Rohini Nakshatra, traditionally associated with rising temperatures.

Locals expressed confusion over the changing weather, noting how heatwaves were expected but instead, sudden showers arrived.

On Saturday afternoon, a sudden downpour brought 36.4 mm of rain in just one hour. With this, the total rainfall since May 9 has reached 97.4 mm—approximately four inches—an unusually high amount for the season.

The rain turned an open plot adjacent to the newly constructed CM Rise School into a temporary pond, drawing attention to the area’s lack of a proper drainage system. Ironically, this plot was recently used as a cricket ground, now rendered unusable.

Further concerns arose in the officer colony, where government bungalows and offices repeatedly experienced waterlogging during heavy rains. To manage the flow, locals are reportedly forced to break road dividers to allow water passage—a practice that highlights the absence of a long-term drainage infrastructure.

Despite these recurring problems, no lasting drainage solution has been implemented, frustrating residents who face the same issues year after year.
