Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh's weather is witnessing a dramatic juggle between intense heat and rainfall. The northern and eastern part of the state is boiling under intense heatwave while the western and central regions of the state is under rainfall and storm alert. Severe weather conditions across the state might persist till 20th May.

Rain alert in 39 districts

On Saturday, storm and rain alerts has been issued for 39 districts, including major cities like Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Jabalpur, and Gwalior. Gusty winds are expected at the speed of 30 to 50 km/h, accompanied by lightning and moderate rainfall.

According to the Meteorological Department, on Friday the weather saw a drastic change in many districts including Dindori, Seoni, Burhanpur, Khargone, Barwani, Mandla, Anuppur, Seoni, Balaghat, Pandhurna, Betul, Dhar, Khargone. Storm and cloudy weather was observed here.

Scorching heat in several parts

At the same time several regions are scorching under high temperature, with Khajurao remaining the hottest city with 45.8°C. Followed closely by Gwalior and Naugaon at 45°C. However, the capital Bhopal remained comparatively milder at 38.4°C. Whereas, Indore and Ujjain recorded 36.9°C & 39°C respectively.

Activation of multiple systems

According to IMD, the contrasting weather pattern is a result of 3 active cyclonic circulations and one trough line spanning across the state. This combination of multiple system active, is leading to rainfall in several regions and intense heatwave in others at the same time.
