Bagh (Madhya Pradesh): Students at Bagh Government College are facing serious safety issue as local bus operators consistently refuse to stop at the college bus stop, forcing female students to walk 2.5 kilometres on a dangerous and isolated bypass road.

While the same buses readily stop for other passengers, they deliberately ignore students trying to board at the designated college stop. The daily walk has raised significant safety concerns, particularly for female students.

The deserted road has a history of criminal incidents, including a mobile phone snatching case involving a female student two years ago. Despite obvious risks, students continue to face challenging situation every day, walking in harsh weather conditions with constant worry about their safety.

College Principal Dr Dilip Patidar has actively sought help from authorities, writing to the police administration about the problem. He emphasised the urgent need for regular bus service at the college stop, highlighting previous criminal incidents on the route.

Students have also repeatedly approached the police with their concerns, but their complaints have yet to result in any meaningful action. In response to the ongoing issues, Bagh police station in-charge Kailash Chauhan has proposed a partial solution.

He stated that during college hours, instructions would be given to ensure two to three-afternoon buses stop at the college stop. However, the limited service may not fully address students' transportation needs throughout the day.
