Madhya Pradesh: 46 corona patients avail of treatment at specially prepared railway coaches under Western Railways

RATLAM (MADHYA PRADESH): Forty-six Covid-19 patients got treatment during the second wave at Tihi Railway Station in Ratlam Rail Division in the railway coaches specially prepared for the treatment purpose by the Ratlam rail division.

During the first wave of Covid-19, 70 sleeper class coaches were prepared: 20 were sent to Tihi railway station while remaining 50 coaches remained parked unused at other locations.

Ratlam Rail Division made these coaches available only during peak of second wave of Covid-19 and only four of such coaches were put to use.

The capacity of 20 coaches was for the admission of 360 patients and in four coaches of the capacity of 72 patients only 46 patients were brought for the treatment in the coaches. One coach of the medical staff also existed at the track.

Coaches meant for Covid-19 patients were continued to remain parked at Tihi railway station till further orders, sources said.

Maximum six patients were admitted on a single day on April 30. They were the first patients to be admitted here.

2 patients who were brought here on May 24 were last to be admitted here.

On May 29 state government handed over the coaches back to the railway.
