Bagh (Madhya Pradesh): A surprise inspection was conducted in schools of Narwali sector of Bagh by Tribal Development Department assistant commissioner Narottam Varkade, on Thursday.
During the surprise inspection, Varkade found shocking lapses in school operations. At Narwali High School, out of 78 registered students in classes 9 and 10, not a single student was present. Only three teachers were found on duty.
Ironically, principal of this school is Arvind Nayak, who also serves as the Block Education Officer (BEO) of Bagh.
The condition of other schools in the sector was also the same. Most had only one teacher present, and classrooms were empty. Out of 40 government schools in the sector, 13 have no regular teachers and are functioning with the help of guest faculty.
BEO Arvind Nayak attributed the situation to unfilled teaching posts at the state level. Temporary adjustments are made through surplus teachers at the Sankul (cluster) level until guest appointments are finalized.
Assistant commissioner Varkade expressed dissatisfaction over the poor educational management in Bagh block and directed the BEO to immediately deploy teachers in schools lacking staff.
Notably, BEO Nayak holds multiple additional charges, impacting the effective oversight of Narwali schools.
