Neemuch (Madhya Pradesh): The district administration has launched a large-scale water conservation campaign under Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan through public participation.
The initiative has identified a total of 1,673 water structures which includes ponds, check dams and stop dams across 243 gram panchayats. Of these, 918 structures have already been deepened with community support, involving 6,519 villagers and the removal of 1,00,319 tractor trolleys of soil, which was redistributed to farms for enhancing soil fertility.
The water-holding capacity has increased from 43.23 lakh cubic metres to over 1.15 crore cubic metres. In Jawad, 339 out of 592 identified structures are being deepened, with 1,850 villagers removing 20,786 tractor loads of soil. Manasa saw similar efforts on 318 structures, extracting 19,982 loads with 2,218 participants. Neemuch block completed work on 243 of 427 structures, with 5,321 villagers removing 15,551 tractor loads.
Additionally, the Water Resources Department deepened 18 reservoirs with 900 farmers extracting 50,000 tractor loads of soil.
Women informed about legal rights, police helpline numbers
In honour of the 300th birth anniversary of Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, a one-day awareness campaign on the theme ‘Self-reliant Women, Empowered Nation’ was organised by the police department on Friday.
The campaign focused on informing women and girls about their legal rights and police helplines.

As part of the initiative, Neemuch police organised a women’s bike rally that was flagged off by additional superintendent of police Naval Singh Sisodia from the Police Control Room. The rally passed through major city roads, spreading messages against crimes targeting women and promoting women’s empowerment.
The event saw participation from DSP Ajak Yashasvi Shinde, DSP Women’s Safety Nikita Singh, RI Vikram Singh Bhadoria and TI Traffic inspector Urmila Chauhan, along with numerous women police officers and staff.
A Jan Kalyan Parv will be observed on May 31, as per directives from the police headquarters, Bhopal.
