Indore: Youth, mother tied to tree, beaten up by villagers

Indore: A 25-year-old youth and his mother were tied to a tree and allegedly beaten up by the villagers in full public view in Betma area on Saturday morning. The villagers suspected them to be thieves. The youth was injured in the incident. According to Betma police station incharge DPS Chouhan, the incident took place in Chhota Betma area, about 5 kilometres away from Betma town, around 5am. The villagers were patrolling in the area when they spotted a youth named Asif of Chandan Nagar. The villagers suspected him to be a thief and caught him.

When the villagers asked him why he was roaming there, he made a phone call to his mother Amina Bi who reached the spot within minutes. The villagers later tied them to a tree and thrashed them black and blue. Police reached the spot after getting the information and rescued them. Later, they were sent to hospital for treatment. A case has been registered under various sections of the IPC against unidentified persons and the investigation was underway.
