Indore (Madhya Pradesh): In a startling case of recruitment fraud, Sadar Bazar police have booked a youth who used an impersonator to clear the written exam for the GD constable recruitment, later changing his Aadhaar details to conceal the deception.
The accused, Pritam Singh Bhil, a resident of Guna district, allegedly had another man, Bijraj, appear for the written exam in June 2023. Once the written test was cleared, Pritam himself took the physical test, successfully passed the selection process, and secured a job as a constable.
The scam came to light recently during document verification. Additional DCP (Zone-1) Alok Kumar Sharma said that inspector Manoj Khedalkar from the First Battalion’s document verification committee filed a formal complaint after noticing discrepancies in the applicant’s records.
“The photograph submitted during the written exam didn’t match the one from the physical test,” officials said.
Upon closer examination, biometric verification confirmed that two different persons had taken part in the recruitment process under the same identity.
Investigators found that Bijraj had altered the Aadhaar card used for the exam—pasting his own photo and updating the biometric data before the test. After the exam, Pritam reverted the Aadhaar details back to his own to continue the recruitment process undetected.
Although the fraud happened nearly two years ago, an FIR was filed only after the battalion’s internal investigation gathered enough evidence, including photo mismatches and biometric inconsistencies.
Pritam has been booked under IPC Sections 419 (impersonation) and 420 (cheating). Further investigation is underway to determine if others were involved or if similar cases exist.
