Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): While Indore may have missed out on hosting Indian Premier League (IPL) matches, cricket fans have a reason to cheer as the city will be one of the venues for the ICC Women's One-Day World Cup 2025, starting on September 29.
India is set to host the tournament, and matches will be played in Indore, Raipur, Visakhapatnam, Mohali, and Thiruvananthapuram. However, the exact number of matches and teams playing in Indore are yet to be confirmed.
This marks India's return as a host for the Women's ODI World Cup after 12 years, with the last edition hosted in 2013. The tournament will feature eight teams, including India, Australia, England, South Africa, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka, while two more teams will qualify through a qualifier tournament in Pakistan starting from April 9.
Madhya Pradesh Premier League Matches to be held
Meanwhile, Indore will also host the Madhya Pradesh Premier League (MPL) 2025, a T20 tournament inspired by IPL. The Holkar Stadium will be the venue for MPL's second season, which was previously held in Gwalior. The tournament, starting May 31, will feature seven teams, including new entries from Ujjain and Sagar. With both international and domestic cricket action lined up, Indore is set to become a major hub for cricket in 2025.
