Indore (Madhya Pradesh): In a proactive step to ensure the welfare of students from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes, divisional commissioner Deepak Singh has constituted joint inspection teams for all government-run ashrams, hostels and residential campuses across the division.

According to an official statement, the commissioner has issued strict directives to monitor arrangements related to food, drinking water, health and overall safety.

Senior divisional officers have been assigned supervisory responsibilities, while officials at the district level—including CEOs of Zila Panchayats, women officers, ADMs, doctors, SDMs, Janpad CEOs and tehsildars—have been directed to conduct regular inspections of these institutions.

The inspections will take place between July 21 and July 26, focusing on district headquarters' Eklavya girls residential education complexes, top-tier district-level hostels and other student accommodations.

These team members have been instructed to conduct open discussions with the students during the inspections to gather firsthand feedback on the services and facilities being provided.

Key focus areas of inspection

The teams will pay particular attention to aspects including kitchen and storage room cleanliness, quality of food ingredients and meals, meal timing and availability of breakfast, hygiene of cooking utensils, regular health checkups and measures to prevent seasonal and infectious diseases and control of pests and harmful organisms.

In addition, the teams will assess personal and community hygiene, with a special focus on sanitary facilities, availability of sanitary napkins, and overall safety in girls' hostels. Feedback forms will also be collected during the inspections in girls' residences.
