Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Underlining the importance of innovation, Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) has announced that Indore will collaborate with leading companies and reputed educational institutions to deploy modern technology for river rejuvenation.

‘Plans are underway to organise a hackathon to explore sustainable solutions such as floating aerators and floating wetlands for water conservation and improved sanitation,’ municipal commissioner Shivam Verma said after holding a meeting reviewing the progress under Namami Gange Mission and AMRUT 2.0 Projects along with assessing preparations for the upcoming Simhastha 2028.

The meeting was attended by additional commissioner Rohit Sisonia, executive engineer Vivesh Jain, senior officials including Lakshmikant Vajpayee, Nadeem Khan, Akash Jain, as well as consultants and representatives from various project companies. Verma directed officials to prioritise cleaning of rivers and drains across the city, keeping in view Indore’s role as a host city during Simhastha. He also reviewed ongoing outfall tapping works and instructed that all projects be completed with strict adherence to quality and timelines.

Emphasising accountability, Verma ordered the phased removal of illegal encroachments along river and drain banks to ensure uninterrupted cleaning and development works.

He further directed that all infrastructure-related groundwork must be completed before launching surface-level projects to avoid unnecessary road digging or demolition later, thereby saving costs for both the municipal corporation and citizens.

'The goal is to present Indore as a clean, sustainable and environmentally friendly city ahead of Simhastha 2028, while ensuring long-term benefits for residents under Namami Gange and AMRUT 2.0,’ Verma said.
