Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The Society of Paediatric Thoracic Surgery (SPTS), a section under the Indian Association of Paediatric Surgeons (IAPS), in collaboration with the Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh Chapter of Paediatric Surgeons, is organising its first-ever national conference, SPTSCON 2025, on July 19 and 20, 2025, at the IRCAD India Centre's S.M Bhandari Auditorium, Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences.
This prestigious event will witness the participation of nearly 150 senior paediatric surgeons and MCh (post-doctoral) students from across the country.
Among the attendees will be many former and current IAPS presidents, secretaries, and senior members of the association. This is the first national conference of its kind being held by the society, marking a significant milestone and a proud moment for the city of Indore and MP.
Prior to the main event, a hands-on robotic surgery workshop will be conducted at IRCAD India Centre for selected delegates. Expert trainers from PGI Chandigarh, SGPGI Lucknow, and Sri Aurobindo Institute will provide advanced training on robotic surgical systems. International speakers from the USA and France will also join the conference online, contributing to the global scope of the event.
The conference will focus on advanced surgical approaches in paediatric thoracic conditions, including empyema, congenital anomalies of the trachea and oesophagus, congenital lung diseases, paediatric thoracic trauma, and cancers.
Experts will deliver lectures on the latest techniques involving minimally invasive and robotic surgeries. Participating students will also present in-depth research papers on these subjects.
First director Medical Education, Telangana Dr.Narendra Are, Indian Association of Paediatric surgeons (IAPS) president Dr.Sumitra Biswas and IAPS secretary general Dr Vikesh Agrawal will be present as main participants.
Dr Manoj joshi, chairman of Society of Paediatric Thoracic Surgery (SPTS)and organiing chairman of SPTSCON 2025, along with Dr Advait Prakash as organising secretary SPTSCON2025 are main organisers. Chairman of MP-CG chapter Dr. Manish Patel and Dr Brijesh Lahoti as chief mentor along with other senior members will be part of this organising committee. This event will give boost to thoracic surgery of children in MP.
