Indore (Madhya Pradesh): As the New Year began on Wednesday, devotees thronged temples on the first day of the year 2025. A huge rush was seen at many temples in the city, as people flocked to seek divine blessings at the beginning of the year. Indore ushered in 2025 with a harmonious blend of spiritual devotion and festive enthusiasm.

Thousands of residents and visitors gathered at city's revered temples, including Khajrana Ganesh Temple and Ranjeet Hanuman Temple, to seek blessings for the New Year. Khajrana Ganesh Temple, in particular, witnessed a significant influx of devotees.

To manage the crowd and ensure safety, the temple closed to the public at 10 pm on December 31. The midnight aarti was conducted exclusively by the temple priests and staff. The temple reopened at 4 am on January 1 during the auspicious Brahma Muhurta for the general public. A video of devotees in queues at Khajrana Temple also went viral on social media in which a huge number of devotees were seen.

City roads experienced heavy traffic as revellers made their way to various destinations. Key junctions like GPO Square, Chhawni and other nearby areas witnessed significant congestion, with vehicles queuing for long stretches.

Popular food hubs like Sarafa Bazaar and Chhappan Dukan saw a surge of visitors indulging in the city's renowned culinary delights. Major malls turned into vibrant entertainment centres offering live performances and themed events.

Zoo witnesses huge crowd

In addition to temple visits, many families and tourists chose to spend the day at the city's popular recreational spots. The Indore Zoo became a hub of activity, with visitors eager to explore the diverse wildlife exhibits.

Similarly, Ralamandal Wildlife Sanctuary attracted nature enthusiasts keen on experiencing its rich flora and fauna. The sanctuary, known for its serene environment and trekking opportunities, provided a refreshing escape from the urban hustle.
