Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A dentist was duped of Rs 1.28 crore by a conman, who posed himself as a share trading advisor and lured him with promise of huge profit in less time. Initially, the scammer gave the dentist good amount of money as profit to gain his trust.

Sanwer police station in charge Kamal Singh Gehlot informed Free Press that Krishnakant Dethaliya, a resident of Kayastha Khedi village has lodged a complaint on Friday that he was duped by a conman of Rs 1.28 crore on the pretext of profit in share trading.

Dethaliya had found the number of the accused from somewhere and he had made a phone call a few months ago. The receiver posed as a share trading advisor. After that the accused added the complainant's mobile number in a WhatsApp group where he shared some screenshots of profits of the investors.

Initially, Dethaliya transferred some amount to the bank account given by the accused and he also got a good return after a few days. Impressed by this, the complainant transferred more money. In four months, he transferred Rs 1.28 crore to the bank accounts given by the accused.

The accused had shown a profit of Rs 28 crore. When Dethaliya told him to transfer the amount, the conman asked to transfer Rs 1 crore as brokerage. The complainant didn’t transfer the same and the accused blocked his number. After that he lodged a complaint with the police. A case under section 318 (4) of the BNS against the holder of two mobile numbers and started an investigation to identify him.

Gehlot said that Dethaliya is a dentist and runs his clinic in his village. He used to invest money in share trading so he had contacted the accused. Further investigation is underway into the case.
