Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Commuters spent hours in a traffic jam after two trucks reportedly broke down in Choral Ghat Section on Indore-Khandwa Road on Saturday. Vehicles were seen moving at a snail’s pace for over five hours and the traffic jam was seen on a stretch of more than seven kilometres till the filing of this report.
Police officials said that two trucks broke down near Double Turn on Indore-Khandwa Road on Saturday afternoon, leading to a heavy traffic jam. Police reached the spot and faced a tough situation while trying to streamline the traffic.
To note, road construction work on Indore Khandwa Road is also under progress and vehicles are passing through the old road where the trucks broke down. The traffic jam occurred due to heavy vehicles and passenger buses.

DSP (Headquarters) Umakant Chowdhary informed the Free Press that many passengers from Maharashtra are travelling towards Mhow to celebrate Ambedkar Jayanti so there was heavy traffic on the highway. The truck breakdown on the road caused a jam and road construction worsened the situation.
After receiving information, Simrol TI Amit Kumar and his team reached the spot to clear the jam but the vehicles were stuck on a long stretch so it was a challenge to restore vehicular movement. It is also said that the police reached the spot late on account of being deployed in VIP duty.
A commuter and social activist Kriti Vyas Parashar informed that she and her child had to face a lot of trouble while travelling to Khandwa from Indore in a bus. The jam occurred at around 2 PM and was continuing till the filing of the report. Police said that the jam lasted for over five hours.
Commuters in city also witnessed jams
A jam-like situation was also witnessed in various parts of the city, including Airport Road, Patnipura and Pardeshipura area for some time on Saturday evening. As per reports the traffic snarls occurred due to religious functions at various places.
