Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Three men were arrested in the Azad Nagar area for carrying MDMA, an illegal drug, police said on Friday. They said two of them had come to hand over the drugs to the third man. The men are on a two-day police remand and are being interrogated about their source and also possible accomplices.
DCP (zone-1) Vinod Kumar Meena said a team led by ACP Karandeep Singh and Azad Nagar police station in-charge Vijay Sisodiya caught the three men from the New RTO Road on Thursday. The accused also tried to flee from there on seeing the police.
During a search, about 70 grams of MDMA, valued at Rs 50 lakh in the international market, was recovered from them. The accused have been identified as Javed Khan, a resident of Jhalawar (Rajasthan), Wasim Khan of Agar Malwa and Suresh Bhide, a resident of Kukshi in Dhar district.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused had come to deliver the drugs to Bhide. Police believe that they had brought the drugs from Rajasthan. Audio-video evidence was collected on the spot under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita.
The men were booked under Section 8/22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and further investigations are underway. Meanwhile, another man was arrested with MDMA worth Rs 1.6 lakh in the Khajrana area.
DCP (zone-2) Abhinay Vishwakarma said that acting on a tip-off, a team led by Khajrana police station in-charge Manoj Singh Sendhav caught a man from near the Rangoon Garden. On search, over 15 grams of MDMA was recovered from him. The accused, identified as Syed Rehan Ali, a Khajrana resident, was arrested and booked under the relevant section of the NDPS Act.
