Indore (Madhya Pradesh): IIT Indore has been selected to host the Technology Translation Research Park (TTRP) in Digital Healthcare under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS).

Digital healthcare in India is rapidly evolving, driven by government initiatives like the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) and the National Digital Health Mission (NDHM), aiming to create a seamless digital health ecosystem.

In India, to cater to the increasing demand for quality healthcare, digital health solutions are playing a crucial role in enhancing accessibility, affordability, and efficiency.

Digital healthcare infrastructure in India is evolving to bridge the gap between urban and rural healthcare services, leveraging telemedicine, electronic health records (EHRs), and artificial intelligence (AI)-driven diagnostics.

Under the aegis of NM-ICPS, IIT Indore already received a Technology Innovation Hub (TIH) back in 2021. IITI Dristhi CPS Foundation came into being with a focus on System Simulation, Modelling & Visualisation but working across a wide array of sectors including digital healthcare. The work at Drishti emerged to create a flagship unified human digital twin platform, “CharakDT.” Over 70 research and innovation projects are underway to empower this platform further.

The Technology Translation Research Park (TTRP) at IIT Indore was proposed as a next phase to Dristhi CPS Foundation. The proposal emerged to cater to the growing need of the nation in creating a robust digital health infrastructure.

The novel, systematic and scalable architecture of CharakDT allows a unique way of creating individual health models (twins) for each patient by aggregating contextual data from multifarious sources and implementing large-scale AI models across dimensions of organ physics, demography, diagnostic tools, and environment.

After a thorough examination of the proposal from IIT Indore, the Mission Governing Board of NM-ICPS has selected IITI Drishti CPS Foundation for upgradation to TTRP under NM-ICPS in the focus area of “Digital Healthcare”. This new endeavour comes with an additional allocation of ₹150 Crores over next few years.

“The new TTRP comes as a great validation of the initiatives on Digital Healthcare that has been incubated in IIT Indore. We look forward to extending the mandate of IITI Drishti CPS Foundation into the Digital Healthcare through this new TTRP.”, said Prof. Suhas S. Joshi, Director, IIT Indore.

The new TTRP will also give a huge boost to the translational research activities in the other domain of research at IIT Indore. Besides, IITI Dristhi CPS Foundation, IIT Indore has established ACE Foundation as well as a Centre for Translational Research for nurturing and sustainable growth in the translational research.
