Indore (Madhya Pradesh): In a display of its dedication to innovation and technological advancements, Indian Institute of Technology Indore marked a groundbreaking year in research and development setting new records with 30 patents granted and achieving an impressive 78 per cent growth in patent filings.

In 2024, the institute saw a remarkable 41 per cent rise in all the Indian patents it received so far. IIT Indore also secured two design registrations and successfully licensed two technologies to the industry partners, showing its commitment to the real-world applications of research.

A key highlight of the institute’s achievements is the granting of 30 patents last year boosting its total patent portfolio to 76, including 74 Indian and two US patents. The year-wise analysis of patent grants shows an upward trajectory with a sharp increase in 2024 compared to previous years. The elite institute filed 41 patents in 2024, compared to 23 in 2023, contributing to a total of 165 patents filed over the years.

The surge reflects the increasing emphasis on innovation, expanding research capabilities and intellectual property at the institution. “With a focus on research excellence, patent filings and industry partnerships, IIT Indore is poised to make even greater strides in the coming years, contributing largely to India’s innovation-driven growth,” said IIT Indore public relations officer Sunil Kumar.
