Indore (Madhya Pradesh): There is pleasant news for passengers and drivers passing through the Ganesh Ghat located on Indore-Khalghat section of the new NH52 of Agra-Bombay (AB) Road as they can now pass this stretch without any worry. By eliminating the black spot no. MP052, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has completed the construction of 8.8 km long new 3-lane road one month prior to its scheduled completion. The traffic from the new lane would commence in the next one or two days.
The black spot became infamous, where very often vehicles turned turtle and caught fire, where hundreds of people have been burnt alive. The vehicles going from Indore to Mumbai always pass through the Ganesh Ghat section under the threat of a possible accident. That’s why the section was known as an accident-prone area that was declared as MP052 black spot. The unfortunate vehicles breached the lane and rammed into the lane on the other side or turned turtle and many times caught fire.
According to reports about 5 to 7 people have been burnt alive in 2 to 3 months in such kind of accidents. Taking note of the typical situation of the Ganesh Ghat, NHAI decided to eliminate the black spot by constructing an 8.8 km long separate 3-lane road, which is 3 km away from the existing road. The construction of the new and separate lane began in June 2023 and was to be completed by December 2024. However, NHAI has completed the construction one month ahead of its scheduled completion in November itself. The NHAI is going to open the new lane for the movement of vehicles before the end of this month.

New natural tourist spot likely to emerge
A new natural tourist spot is likely to emerge on the new lane on the Ghat section as it passes through the Vindhyachal Ranges. As per the officials engaged with the project, passing from the new spot is quite a soothing experience. The natural beauty spread along both sides of the road is charming. In the monsoon season, this may be a fascinating spot. The under-passes built there are also beautiful.
