Susner (Madhya Pradesh): The ancient Khedapati Hanuman Mandir Math in Susner, believed to be over 1,000 years old, has undergone a remarkable transformation—from ruins to a vibrant centre of faith—thanks to the relentless dedication of local devotees.

Back in 1990, the temple was in a dilapidated state. With just Rs 5,000 left after a Ramayan Parayan, the first step toward rebuilding was taken. What followed was a unique community movement: devotees not only donated funds but also their physical labour, digging the foundation themselves and collecting donations every Sunday from homes and shops. This grassroots model of temple development later inspired similar initiatives in nearby areas.

Today, the temple hosts religious events year-round, becoming a hub for spiritual gatherings. From June 5 to June 9, it is witnessing the Hanuman Katha, narrated by renowned storyteller Pandit Peethadheeshwar Sakaldwari Balaji Dham Orchha Hrithik Maharaj.

The temple’s red-stone entrance, built to resemble a palace, creates a lasting impression on visitors. Local contributions for the temple’s renovation have crossed Rs 1 crore, showcasing the community’s unwavering faith in Bajrangbali.

Special events are held on major occasions like Hanuman Ashtami and Hanuman Jayanti, along with regular activities such as night vigils and Bhandaras on Poornimas. The Annakut Mahotsav, a community celebration held annually since 1954, remains a key highlight.

Devotion, unity, and sustained effort have turned this ancient temple into a living symbol of faith.
