Maheshwar (Madhya Pradesh): A protest erupted in Maheshwar following the suicide of 20-year-old Akash Kewat, with the Kewat community blocking roads on Sunday.
Family alleges Abetment of suicide
They alleged that Akash took his life due to harassment from Gajraj Yadav, husband of Municipal Council president Alka Yadav. The protest began at Jay Stambh intersection, where community members demanded Yadav's arrest and a fair investigation into the case.

Officials assured action within three days
Local officials, including SDOP Manohar Gawli and Tehsildar Rakesh Sastya, arrived on the spot to control the situation. After three hours of protest, the officials assured action within three days and persuaded the protesters to lift the blockade. The Kewat community also burnt an effigy of Gajraj Yadav and raised slogans.
Akash’s father Rajesh Kewat accused Yadav of abetting his son’s suicide, claiming he was harassed and robbed. He said that Yadav and an accomplice took goods from his shop and threatened Akash, causing him distress. Rajesh also alleged that the Maheshwar police refused to lodge his FIR against Yadav.
SDOP Manohar Gawli assured that the police were thoroughly investigating the allegations and would take strict action against anyone found guilty.
