Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Seven years after the suicide of a 27-year-old woman, Kanadiya police have finally registered a case against 10 individuals, including her husband and his alleged lover, based on a suicide note and statements from the victim's family.

The deceased was identified as Neha Sisodiya Agrawal, a resident of Khatri Khedi. She had consumed poison and ended her life on January 1, 2018.

Before taking the drastic step, she had left behind a suicide note in which she mentioned being distressed by her husband Rahul Agrawal’s relationship with another woman. She also accused her husband, mother-in-law, and sisters-in-law of harassment and mental torture.

According to police, Neha had previously attempted suicide two years earlier due to ongoing domestic disputes. Following her death, her family had staged a protest at the police station demanding justice.

Neha's mother, Sunita Sisodiya, told police that shortly after marriage, Rahul began beating her daughter and threatened to throw her out. He openly declared his love for Varsha and wanted to bring her home.

Influenced by his sisters and their husbands, Rahul reportedly abused Neha physically and mentally, leading her to commit suicide.

Based on a complaint by Neha’s mother, police have booked Rahul Agrawal, his alleged lover Varsha Solanki, his sisters Jyoti, Karuna, and Nisha, along with their husbands and other relatives from villages.

The case was registered under sections 108 (Abetment to Suicide), 85 (cruelty by husband or his relatives), 115(2), 296, 351(2), 3(5) of the BNS, and further investigation is underway.
