Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Indore police are all set to make several safety arrangements to ensure a peaceful New Year's eve celebration by deploying nearly 2,000 police personnel to maintain law and order, an official said on Monday.

As many as 500 stoppers and barricades will be installed in a zigzag manner at prominent checking points to curb speed of vehicles. About 60% of the staff of every police station will be on the road at night to strengthen security measures for peaceful festivity.

Additional commissioner of police Amit Singh said, “All the necessary preparations have been made to ensure that no untoward incidents happen in the city. We will take action against those who create disturbances. About two thousand cops will be deployed and 500 stoppers and barricades will be installed at the prominent checking point.” Sector mobile vans and flying squads will be deployed.

Singh added, “Our primary focus will be to take action against drunk & drive commuters and those involved in road rage incidents. For this, a sector mobile van will be deployed at every police station along with a flying squad. We have also identified some of the habitual offenders against whom action will be taken.” The police have also issued an advisory to party organisers, club, bar and hotel owners to not allow any type of illegal activity and psychotropic drug consumption. If found violating, action will be taken against the owner.
