Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The city is going to get 40 new overhead water tanks and distribution pipeline networks under the Amrut 2.0 mission. Besides, water distribution network linked to 75 existing overhead tanks will also be strengthened. An amount of Rs 965 crore will be spent on the project.
Mayor-in-Council (MIC) meeting, chaired by mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav, gave approval to the works and took a slew of significant decisions aimed at strengthening Indore's urban infrastructure and international presence.
The meeting was attended by municipal commissioner Shivam Verma, Mayor-in-Council members, additional commissioners and senior officials.
One of the most prominent announcements was the approval of development projects exceeding Rs 1,000 crore. Key initiatives include the construction of a link road connecting Chandan Nagar Square to Airport Road via Nandan Nagar and Kalani Nagar. The plan encompasses cement concrete roads, carriageways, bridges, culverts, footpaths, stormwater lines and electric line shifts, with tenders worth Rs 26 crore to be invited.
An allocation of Rs 11 crore was also approved for laying a reused water pipeline from the 245 MLD Kabit Khedi plant to the Reoti Range plantation site, further promoting water sustainability.
In a move to improve city safety, the MiC approved the formation of a dedicated fire cell and the recruitment of new fire staff. The services of fire and traffic consultants will also be enlisted to bolster emergency and traffic management.
Adding a touch of civic pride and hospitality, the MIC has also approved the construction of welcome gates at the borders of the city under the theme “Indore Municipal Corporation heartily welcomes you.”

Mayor to represent India at Moscom
Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava will represent India at the prestigious All-Russian Municipal Forum in Moscow from April 21 to 23. More than 3,000 municipal representatives from across Russia are expected to attend. Bhargava will address the forum on the theme “Investment, Attraction and Economic Potential of the Republic of India,” marking a proud moment for Indore and the nation. He was congratulated and felicitated by the MIC members with a bouquet during the meeting.
