Details About the Incident
The disturbing incident took place at around 1:30 pm on Sunday, when Manan’s Thar (JK02DP-9594) first collided with a scooter (JK02BS-6435) near Allora Textiles, knocking the elderly rider to the ground.
What happened after was a chilling act of brutality. Instead of assisting the injured man, Manan allegedly reversed his SUV at speed and crushed him again. The victim, now in ICU with reportedly a brain haemorrhage, was rushed to GMC Jammu by bystanders.
After the accused fled the scene, Jammu Police registered FIR No 163/2025 under Sections 281 and 125(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. After CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts confirmed the deliberate intent to harm, Section 109 (attempt to murder) of the BNS was also invoked.
The vehicle has since been seized and a mechanical inspection is currently underway.
