Akashteer is crafted under the Make in India initiative jointly by Bharat Electronics limited (BEL) Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO),without any foreign components. The Akashteer air defence system stands as a formidable pillar of India’s air-defence capabilities.
It played a crucial role in intercepting and neutralising inbound Pakistani drones, missiles, micro UAVs, and loitering munitions, effectively preventing any breach of Indian airspace.
Akashteer is the first operational AI-driven war-cloud developed entirely without foreign components or satellite dependencies, Akashteer showcases India’s self-reliance in building defence technology.
On the other hand, Pakistan’s air defence response consisted of HQ- 9 & HQ-16 proved out to be a massive failure in detecting Indian projectiles & intercept them timely manner, resulting in heavy losses.

Akashteer provides a common, real-time air picture to all parties involved (control room, radars, and Air Defence Guns), enabling coordinated air defence operations.
Defence experts are terming Akashteer as “a seismic shift in warfare strategy.” As per a post by DD News, "Akashteer is capable of intercepting and neutralising hostile UAVs without detection, using no active radar signatures. It relied entirely on stealth drone tracking, satellite surveillance, and AI-based decision-making."
