Kolkata: Trinamool Congress (TMC) sources said that party’s spokesperson and state general secretary Kunal Ghosh has resigned from both his posts on Friday.

Taking to X, Ghosh mentioned that he doesn’t want to continue with the posts.

“I don’t want to continue with the post of TMC’s general secretary and spokesperson. I am a misfit in the system. I cannot go further with the work. I will stay as the party's soldier. Please do not tolerate any fake news of me defecting to any other party. Mamata Banerjee is my leader, Abhishek Banerjee is my Senapati and All India Trinamool Congress is my party,” wrote Ghosh in Bengali.

According to party sources, Ghosh has already sent his resignation letter to the necessary quarters and has also informed the necessary people.

It has been learnt that Ghosh has also refused the state’s security he enjoyed.

Earlier this day, Ghosh has removed TMC from his bio in X handle and mentioned ‘Social Activist’.

Without naming anyone, Ghosh has also slammed some party leaders in Bengali at X and accused them of ‘selfishness’ and ‘factionalism’ and also claimed that such ‘group centric leaders victory depends on the enthusiasm of party workers’.

This post of Ghosh clearly indicates alleged ‘rifts’ within the ruling TMC.

Talking to a private Bengali channel, Ghosh slammed Kolkata (North) TMC MP Sudip Bandhopadhyay and alleged that Bandhopadhyay is close to the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP).

“I have informed necessary places how Sudip Bandhopadhyay operates. In the Sandeshkhali incident of sexual harrasments and land grab the party said that the incident of Shahjahan was not known. But in this case everything is known. In Kolkata (North) Lok Sabha constituency there are two BJP candidates one with the symbol of Lotus and the other one is Sudip bandhopadhyay,” said Ghosh.

Without naming anyone, drawing a comparison between Sheikh Shahjahan, Ghosh also mentioned that he was not called for a few organisational meetings.

“Maybe, someone thinks that he is Shahjahan and I am a misfit for which I was not called for the meetings. TMC leader Tapan Ghosh is a very close aide of Bandhopadhyay and he made arrangements in Delhi and made way for Tapan Ghosh’s son Tamaghna Ghosh to BJP,” said Kunal in a Bengali channel.

Kunal also claimed that in 2009 he was instrumental in bringing back Sudip Bandhopadhyay to TMC.
