Kolkata: Amid furore over the alleged gangrape in college, South Kolkata Law college on Monday got reopened following direction of Calcutta High Court with tight security.

According to High Court sources, the college will remain open from 8 am to 2pm and no one including the teachers will be allowed to stay inside the premises after 2pm.

A large contingent of police were seen with barricades outside the main gate of the college and everyone who were entering the college premises had to produce their identity to the police before entering the college.

The Calcutta High Court had also instructed the main security guard to check the entire college after 2pm and then lock the main gate.

Notably, students appearing for their first semester were called on Monday to fill their examination forms.

Several parents were also seen accompanying their children to college out of ‘fear’.

A father of a first-year student said that he had accompanied his son to the college out of ‘fear’.

“Even if my son comes alone, we cannot eat or work and we will be tense thinking of what is happening in the college. The thing which got revealed is horrific and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who is also the police minister must take strict action so that such a thing is not repeated ever,” said the father.

However, the students' union room and the security guard’s room have been sealed by police as part of the ongoing investigation.

Meanwhile, the Bengal unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has uploaded a purported video where few young boys and girls were seen drinking alcohol in alleged college premises. The saffron camp also mentioned that those who are seen drinking are members of student’s wing of Trinamool Congress (TMC).

Though TMC called it ‘fake’.
