Bhuj, Gujarat: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, addressing air warriors at the Bhuj airbase, lauded the Indian Air Force for its swift and decisive action during Operation Sindoor, on Friday, May 16.

He said the airbase, historically significant for its role in the 1965 war, had once again become a symbol of India’s victory over Pakistan. “Bhuj was witness to our victory against Pakistan in 1965, and today again it has been witness to our victory against Pakistan... I feel proud to be present here,” Singh added.

Praising the precision of the IAF’s strikes, Singh further said that only 23 minutes were needed to dismantle terror infrastructure across the border. “Whatever you did during #OperationSindoor has made all Indians proud – whether they are in India or abroad,” he said, commending the forces for their efficiency in neutralising threats and safeguarding national security," he stated.

Before leaving for Bhuj, Singh took to his X handle and wrote, "Leaving New Delhi for Bhuj (Gujarat). Looking forward to interact with our courageous Air Warriors at Bhuj Air Force Station."

"Also, I shall be visiting Smritivan - a memorial and museum envisioned by PM Shri @narendramodi as a tribute to those who lost their lives in the 2001 earthquake," he added.

In response to the April 22 deadly Pahalgam terror attack, India launched Operation Sindoor. India's precision strikes targeted nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

On May 12, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced that the two nations have agreed to a ceasefire and will stop all firing and military action on land, air and sea. However, hours later Pakistan violated the agreement.
